Museum Curator
This is an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to be the team leader of the Steeves House Museum. The Museum is the historic birthplace of the Honourable William Henry Steeves. The original cottage was finished in 1812; William Henry Steeves was born here in 1814 as the oldest of eleven children. He became a Father of Confederation and later, Senator Steeves.
The position includes managing the artefact collection, offering educational outreach and supervising summer interpretive staff in telling the story of William Henry Steeves and the Steeves descendants.
The candidate will direct the day-to-day museum management functions, train and supervise the summer student staff and organize and promote collections to expand community interest.
Strong organizational, supervisory, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills are necessary, as well as strong social media, computer skills, and speaking before small and large groups. Bilingualism is an asset but not a requirement.
This is a seasonal position. Salary to be negotiated commensurate with experience. Please submit cover letter, résumé and reference names.
