We would like to remind residents that the is now available to report certain crimes without having to call the non-emergency line or visit an RCMP detachment.
The types of crime that can be reported using the OCR tool include:

  • Mischief/damage to property under $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000, including theft of bicycle and theft from vehicle under $5,000
  • Lost property

You can do it from anywhere by visiting the OCR website at https://ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en.  At the end of the process, you will receive an email confirmation with an incident number and report that can be used for insurance purposes.  The information filed through OCR will help the RCMP gather more accurate information about crime trends, which in turn, will help them be more responsive to our community.
Online crime reporting is not meant to replace other forms of reporting crime. Always call police or 9-1-1 immediately if the incident is still in progress, or if it is an emergency.  Incidents that do not meet the criteria for OCR should be directed to the RCMP’s non-emergency phone line at 1-888-506-RCMP.
